‘Mental Health Champion’ – One-Day Course

What is a Mental Health Champion course?

Mental Health Champion is a one-day training course that provides learners with an understanding of the most common mental health issues, enabling them to spot early warning signs of poor mental health and then support and signpost accordingly.

This course trains you as a Mental Health Champion, giving you:

  • An understanding of common mental health issues and associated risk factors
  • Guidance surrounding the impact and management of mental ill health in the workplace
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Enhanced non-judgemental listening skills to encourage supportive conversations
  • Signposting guidance for those that need to be referred to further support
  • Skills to support positive wellbeing in both yourself and those around you

Format:

  • One-day when face-to-face, or online across one full-day (i.e. 09:30 – 17:00) or two manageable 5-hour sessions on Zoom (with a 30-minute lunch break built into each session)
  • Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities
  • Each course holds holds up to 16 people, providing you with a network of mental health champions in the workplace, while also ensuring that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn
  • For the duration of this course, you will have an instructor on hand to support you through this learning experience
  • HR personnel, line managers and leaders who want to develop their people management skills
  • Those who have roles where they are frequently interacting with clients
  • Those who want to know how to support poor mental health in the workplace

* MHFA England follow the same quality framework as you would expect from a physical first aid certification. Therefore, your certification remains valid for three years following the completion of your training.
